Back then in Ancient Rome, there was chariot racing. Tons of people would come to the Colosseum or another theater and watch romans race in their chariots. In America we got the idea from them and race horses. In our horse races a jockey is on top of the horse, there is no chariots to ride in. Hundreds of people watch these horses race in a stadium. Another popular race in American is NASCAR racing. Americans also got this idea from the Ancient Romans Chariot Racing. In NASCAR racing, people ride in a race car, that goes hundreds of mph and they go around a track 200 time. (that is the mainly how many times, but it depends on the race) Thoundands of people gather in a stadium where the race is held to watch this fast pace sport.
